CMP Affiliated clubs now have several sanctioned matches to choose from

By Christina Roguski, CMP Program & Competition Support

Hillside Plinkers - Williamsburg, KY

Many clubs were having almost mini-style Eastern/Western Games matches and Competition Tracker at the time did not have a way to list the same individual firing different rifles or re-entry scores without creating separate matches or even multiple events in one match. The good news is Competition Tracker is now set up to show a 3-Gun Aggregate (Garand, Springfield, Vintage Military or G-S-M) for club level matches. Additionally, we are also set up to show re-entry scores for club level matches. Any competitor in a club sanctioned match may fire any three rifles and the same rifle twice in the same match simply by re-entering.

Match Directors sanctioning G-S-M matches will find that the current application form has changed significantly. The new form no longer lists Rimfire Sporter or clinics. It is strictly a form for G-S-M matches. Match Directors may choose from a Garand, Springfield, Vintage Military, Carbine, Unlimited Garand or Modern Military match. They also may choose a combination of any of these. There is also a section for match directors to decide whether they are going to allow re-entries in the match.

We are still sanctioning Rimfire Sporter matches as well as Rimfire Sporter clinics and they now have their own application. Rimfire Sporter was another club match where competitors were firing multiple rifles and multiple times in one match with no way to list all the scores. Rimfire Sporter is now set up to include O-Class, T-Class and the new Tactical class. Competitors may fire in any of the classes or a combination of all three. They may also fire the same rifle twice and have the scores listed.

Clinics and clinics with matches also have a separate application. Clubs may choose to sanction a clinic for Garand, Springfield, Vintage Military, Carbine, Unlimited Garand and/or Modern Military.

The sanctioning fee for all games matches is still only $20.00 plus a $5.00 shipping and handling fee.

The CMP has also added the Service Rifle and Service Pistol non-EIC matches. This allows CMP-affiliated clubs to sanction multiple matches including the President’s 100, National Match Course, and many team events for both rifle and pistol. This will give clubs the opportunity to hold mini-style National Matches. The sanctioning fee for Service Rifle & Service Pistol non-EIC matches is only $10.00 plus $5.00 for shipping and handling. Clubs may choose rifle or pistol and what types of matches they would like to hold. The CMP will provide scorecards, certificates and catalogs upon request.

The CMP still sanctions EIC Service Rifle & Service Pistol Matches or “leg matches.” These are Service Rifle & Service Pistol matches where competitors have the chance to earn “leg” points towards their Distinguished Rifleman and/or Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge. There will be no points issued in either the Service Rifle/Service Pistol State Championships or the Service Rifle/Service Pistol non-EIC Matches. The cost of an EIC Service Rifle & EIC Service Pistol match is still $10.00 per competitor.

We also have introduced State Championship matches for Games matches and well as Service Rifle and Service Pistol. This allows affiliated clubs to hold a state championship consisting of multiple events. It will also allow states to name one individual as a State Champion in an event. CMP-affiliated clubs must receive permission from the State Association prior to holding a State Championship match. The CMP will also provide a medallion to the winner of a CMP State Championship match. For State Championship matches, clubs may email their logo to the CMP to be included on the certificate along with the CMP logo to distribute to all competitors in your match. The cost of sanctioning a State Championship is $30.00 plus $5.00 shipping and handling.

We hope that all clubs will take advantage of the many different types of matches the CMP now sanctions!
