CMP Presents $190,000 Check to Ohio National Guard

By Gary Anderson, DCM

CMP Director Gary Anderson and Ohio National Guard Assistant Adjutant General Brigadier General Matthew Kambic pose with an enlarged version of the $190,000 CMP contribution that will help fund a new RV park at Camp Perry.
The Civilian Marksmanship Program presented a $190,000 check to the Ohio National Guard Adjutant General’s Department on 3 February. The check was the CMP’s contribution towards the completion of a new recreational vehicle park that the Ohio Guard is constructing at Camp Perry. The 40-space RV park is scheduled to be completed in time for 2006 National Matches competitors to utilize for their RVs or trailers while they are at Camp Perry. The park is part of a Camp Perry long range plan that calls for replacing and upgrading competitor housing.

Gary Anderson, the Director of Civilian Marksmanship, presented the check on behalf of the CMP and the CMP Board of Directors. Brigadier General Matthew Kambic, Ohio National Guard Assistant Adjutant General, Army, accepted the check on behalf of the Adjutant General’s Department that is spearheading and helping to fund the construction project. General Kambic was joined by COL Richard Dreiman [Ret.], Assistant Quartermaster General, Ohio National Guard, and COL James Chisman, Camp Perry Base Commander. Several members of the CMP and Ohio National Guard Camp Perry staffs also were present for the presentation event.

Representatives of the Ohio National Guard and Civilian Marksmanship Program were present at Camp Perry on 3 February when the CMP’s contribution towards the construction of a new RV park at Camp Perry was presented. They are (l. to r.) Sheri Judd and Deborah Boyle, CMP Program Managers; Gary Anderson, Director of Civilian Marksmanship; Brigadier General Matthew Kambic, ONG Assistant Adjutant General, Army; COL Richard Dreiman [Ret.] ONG Assistant Quartermaster General; COL James Chisman, Camp Perry Commanding Officer.
Anderson said, “the CMP check represents the CMP’s continued commitment to its partnership with the Ohio National Guard and to continuing efforts to improve Camp Perry and the National Matches.” General Kambic expressed the gratitude of the Ohio National Guard and its Adjutant General, Major General Greg Wayt, in receiving “a contribution that makes it possible to move ahead with the RV park project and to fulfill another part of our vision for Camp Perry and growing the National Matches.”

Construction of the RV park is scheduled to begin within the next month and to be completed in June before the National Matches begin. The park will provide parking spaces, power and water hook-ups and a dumping station. The Camp Perry Club House that manages all Camp Perry housing will coordinate rentals. Announcements will be released as soon as rates and rental terms are available.

The 2006 National Match schedule is posted on the CMP web site at http://www.odcmp.com/NationalMatches.htm. Official Match Programs and on-line registration will be posted on the CMP web site at the end of April.
