CMP-USMC Junior Highpower Clinic Set to
Further Advance Junior Talents

By Ashley Brugnone, CMP Writer

CAMP PERRY, Ohio – The National Trophy Rifle Matches is not only a place where the most talented marksman in the world are named, it’s also where they are made.  Training clinics such as the CMP-USMC Junior Highpower Rifle Clinic, set to take place July 15-17, are plentiful during the Matches to further develop the already gifted shooters who visit Camp Perry.

The CMP-USMC Junior Highpower Clinic is one of the most popular youth marksmanship clinics offered during the National Match season. Last year, over 150 junior shooters signed up for the course, leaving plenty of room for new and returning students for this year’s course.

The three-day clinic is conducted by members of the U.S. Marine Corps Rifle Team and includes classroom instruction as well as live firing on the range. Topics discussed will include effects of weather, how to modify equipment, rifle safety, zeroing and an in-depth review of shooting positions. Participants must have some previous highpower rifle competition experience and have attended the Rifle Small Arms Firing School.

Live firing will take place at 200, 300 and 600 yards. The Marine Corps marksmen will be present on the firing line to answer questions and demonstrate proper techniques. At the end of the clinic, juniors will compete in an Introductory Excelling-In-Competition (EIC) leg match.

Sign your junior shooters up today for this rare opportunity to establish proper shooting habits and absorb fundamental rifle knowledge from the guidance of some of the best marksmen in the country!
