The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) invites you and your club rifle team to participate in the CMP’s Monthly Matches. The matches will take place on 22 Sept, 20/27 Oct and 17 Nov at the CMP’s Marksmanship Centers North and South. The competitions will feature a Junior Air Rifle 3x20, 60 Shots Air Rifle Standing, 60 Shots Air Pistol, a 20 shot Novice Prone stage a National Match Air Rifle 20 Shot Standing, Garand Course and 3x20 events. National Match Air Rifle is a new shooting discipline with something to offer all rifle shooters—NMAR offers three competition classes with real challenges for shooters of all ages and competitive interests. Gallagher Wins 2012 National Trophy Individual Rifle Match & Sagen Maddalena Tops NTI Junior Field

CAMP PERRY, OHIO – SGT Sherri Jo Gallagher, U.S. Army, won the 2012 National Trophy Individual (NTI) Rifle Match on Tuesday, 31 July with a score of 494-15X out of 500 possible.
SGT Sherri Jo Gallagher, U.S. Army, won the 2012 National Trophy Individual Match with an aggregate score of 494-15X out of 500 possible. Her performance earned her the Daniel Boone, Association of the Army and Women’s Rifle trophies.

As the match winner, SGT Gallagher’s name was added to the Daniel Boone Trophy (overall winner), Association of the Army Trophy (high Army) and the Women’s Rifle Trophy (high woman).

Gallagher’s aggregate breakout scores were 98-1X, 100-4X, 100-2X and 196-8X in standing, sitting, prone rapid-fire and prone slow-fire, respectively.
Sagen Maddalena, 18, of Groveland, CA, was the high junior in the NTI and was awarded the Golden Eagle Trophy (high junior) and the Nathan Hale Trophy (high civilian). Maddalena fired a 491-10X, placing sixth overall.

Maddalena fired a 491-10X, topping Isaac Dow, 18, of Grand Junction, CO (484-15X) and Christopher Calumpong, 18, of Rayville, MO, (484-12X). Maddalena placed sixth overall in the NTI. Her aggregate breakout scores were 99-1X, 98-2X, 99-3X and 195-4X in standing, sitting, prone rapid-fire and prone slow-fire, respectively.

Individual trophies won by participants in the NTI were:

• GySgt Sean Bell, USMCR, 492-13X-Citizen Soldier Trophy (High Reserve) and Coast Artillery Trophy (USMC)

• SGT John Coggshall, ARNG, 485-11X-National Guard Trophy (High Guard)

• Tony Miller, 482-11X-Police Rifle Trophy (High Law Enforcement)

• SSG Leigh Jenks, ANG, 484-11X-Lt. Paul J. Roberts Memorial Trophy (USAF)

• SSG Tyrel Cooper, USA, 493-21X-25th Infantry Div. Trophy (High Infantry)

• LCDR Joseph Zerby, USN, 488-13X-Cpt. Joe Earle Wyatt Trophy (High Navy)

• Robert Langham III, 484-11X-CMP Senior Trophy (High Senior)

• CPL Matt Rawlings, USA, 491-16X-High Non-Distinguished

In team competition, U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Praslick won the National Team Trophy (overall winner) with an aggregate team score of 2950-103X. Firing members of the team were SPC Augustus Dunfey, CPL Matthew Rawlings, SSG Tyrel Cooper, SSG Brandon Green, SFC Joel Micholick, and SGT Sherri Jo Gallagher. Team captain is SFC Jeremy Mangione and coach is SFC Emil Praslick III.

U.S. Army Reserve won the Hilton Trophy (2927-95X), awarded to the high Reserve Component or National Guard team. Team members include SGT Kristoffer Friend, CPT Samuel Freeman, MSG Norman Anderson, LTC Scott Klawon, SFC Adam Stauffer and MSG Douglas Withus. Team captain is SSG John Arcularius Jr. and coach is MSG Norman Anderson.

The high civilian team award, the Soldier of Marathon Trophy, was captured by Illinois State Gold (2905-79X). Firing members are Tim Klauer, John Hollinger, Konrad Powers, Clifford Adams, Derek Dattner and Michael Eikey. Team captain is Konrad Powers and coach is John Hollinger.

The high junior team trophy, the Minuteman Trophy, was won by California Grizzlies – Berger, (2880-93X) captained by Cheyanne Acebo and coached by Dirk Seeley. Team members are Kevin Tandoc, Sagen Maddalena, Forrest Greenwood, Morgan Owen, Lane Ichord and James Macmillan. The team set the new national record in this match.
U.S. Army SSG Tyrel Cooper and CPL Matthew Rawlings set the new national aggregate record score of 593-21 in the Hearst Doubles Team Event. Cooper fired a near-perfect 299-15X and Rawlings fired a 294-6X.

In two-person team shooting, the Hearst Doubles US Army team of SSG Tyrel Cooper and CPL Matthew Rawlings set the new national aggregate record score of 593-21. Cooper fired a near-perfect 299 with 15 Xs and Rawlings fired a 294-6X. The U.S. Army also placed second through fourth in the Hearst competition.

The Freedom’s Fire Trophy, presented to the high State Association and Club two-person teams entered in the National Trophy Junior Team Match (NTJT) was awarded to California Grizzlies - Berger (968-21X), comprised of firing members Sagen Maddalena and Forrest Greenwood, who established a new national record. The team was coached by Robert Taylor II and captained by Mike Barranco.

Second place went to Pennsylvania Remington Roxburgh (966-23X), fired by Joseph Hendricks Jr. and Nathan Evagash. The team was coached and captained by Kenneth Roxburgh Jr. Third place was awarded to California Grizzlies – Varget (948-23). Varget firing members are Lane Ichord and Morgan Owen. The team is coached by Cheyanne Acebo and captained by Robert Gill.

The high NTJT At-Large team was Con State Jr Lyman, scoring a new record aggregate score of 860-8X. Firing members are Luke Yost and Stefan-Dayne Ankle. The team was captained by Yost and captained by Wallace Lyman Sr.

The awards for the high individual performances in the National Trophy Team Match were:

• SGT Kristoffer Friend, (USAR), 497-18X-Pershing Trophy (Overall) and Rattlesnake Trophy (Army)

• SSG Leigh Jenks III (ANG), 484-19X-Gen. Thomas White Trophy (Air Force)

The National Civilian Rifle Team (Elihu Root Gold Medal) goes to the six highest scoring individual civilian competitors in the National Trophy Rifle Match:

• Robert Taylor II, 495-21X (New Record)

• Jared Perry, 492-32X

• Isaac Dow, 492-12X

• Tim Klauer, 491-20X

• Robert Modica, 491-20X

• Kyle Hoelscher, 489-20X

There were seven combined individual and team aggregate trophy categories awarded as follows:
