The first shot email mag. is very informative, keep it coming.

As always, great job on this publication.  Particularly liked reading about Dan Jordan.  I'm in rehab and love seeing things like this.  Shows the others you just have to get out there and make the effort.
Best,
Linda

Can't believe I haven't pulled up "The First Shot" before this. I"ve been back and forth on the CMP Forum for a couple of years! This year - 2004 - was my first Garand Shoot after waiting for...20 some years. It was terrific! The staff, the facilities, the organization, scheduling, most of all the fellow shooters...made it a memorable time. My wife went with me and she is already asking if I"ve made plans!

I find TFS very informative. Wish I had a story to share.
My goal is to make it up to Camp Perry.
Keep up the GOOD work.

Excellent newsletter.  Easy to read on screen, print out for file.  Good choice of topics.  Crisp writing.  Nice graphics.  Congratulations on a job well done.  You're a great resource to the shooting sport crowd.  I look forward to receiving the email.
Hank

I just wanted to add my two cents about The First Shot. I really enjoy receiving The First Shot via email. I read all the articles to learn what is happening at CMP and in competitive shooting.
I espically enjoy seeing the accomplishments of the junior shooters. They are the future of this sport I love so much. I can't wait for take my grandkids out and introduce them to the sport of shooting.
I only hope that one day I will also take the trip to Camp Perry. I have read the annual reports in the NRA magazine and now the CMP site for the last 20 years or so. One day, I will make it there.

I've never made it up to Camp Perry (Kelley's Island is a close as I've been), but I love reading the well-assembled newsletter!
I enjoy shooting, although seldom do it... just so busy raising kids and working. Keep up the good work!

The National Youth Leadership Conference took place at Camp Perry the weekend of 8-11 October 2004. Many shooting sports leaders came to learn and exchange valuable information. One of the activities at the Youth Leadership Conference that attendees could participate in was the National Youth Leadership Garand Match.

Connecticut CMP State Junior Director Debbie Lyman recieves coaching advice during the Garand Match.

And the match was quite a learning experience for most attendees. Pulling pits became a reality and shooting a Garand was a thrilling experience! The wind was a bit challenging but everyone had a great time.

Ashley Garman is shown here with his plaque. He was the overall winner of the National Youth Leadership Conference Garand Match.
When the day was over, Ashley Garman, Chief HS Division, HQ, 4th Region AROTC, was the overall winner with a score of 280-3X.
