It's a simple fact of marketing--if you want to sell magazines, put the picture of a cute girl on the cover.

Our cover girl, Danielle Makucevich, age 4, has already attended five Camp Perry Championships. Her first was in 1997 when she was 10 weeks old. Her big goal for shooting is to compete in the Mentor Match with Mommy once she can hold a real rifle and keep 40 shots in the scoring rings :) She was an "unofficial" member of the '97 Randle Team and is pictured in the team photo. Danielle was also listed as the "coach" of the '97 Baby Boomers (mom, dad, god-mother Nancy Tompkins-Gallagher and "uncle" Shawn) which was high master team for both any sights and iron sights in prone. She began shooting in the womb as mom competed in prone matches right up until the week before she was born!

Daddy, Daniel Makucevich (member of several Dewar Teams as well as the '93 Roberts Team), made the little rifle she's holding. It is a 1/2 scale model of the Anschutz Achiever. The front sight has a real aperture (2.9) and the rear sight is made of tubing, wood and screen door knobs for the "sight adjustments". The barrel, which is made of tubing, is inscribed with "Makucevich USA 001."
