Comments from the Customers

For the CMP staff in Anniston, keeping up with the demand for historical firearms is a difficult task. That task is made easier by some of the comments we receive from satisfied purchasers:

I can only say that I wish my father were alive to see my Garand and talk to me once again about his time spent carrying his. He often said there was no gun better made than the Garand and that it had saved his life many times. Since his passing it seems I've a need to see and hold those things that carried him through Europe. I've been called our family historian because I feel it's important for my father's great grandchildren to remember the sacrifices he made. That said... can the CMP offer for sale any of the military equipment that he may have carried (bayonet, cartridge, belt, etc.)? Again, thank you! Know that this Garand will be used and proudly carried to our local matches. I'll have praise for the CMP for the quality you delivered.

I've been very pleased with each of the M1 Garands I've purchased. Each one has been very unique. I have, thanks to the CMP parts people, completely restored two rifles. I plan to pass these pieces of history to my three sons and four grandsons. As far as suggestions... I have none. Every order has been processed in a timely manner and all my questions have been answered efficiently and completely. I have nothing but praise for the people at CMP.

The purchase of this M1 Garand was a 22 year old dream come true! I first became aware of the sale of surplus M1 Rifles back in the late 1970s under the old DCM program, right before it was discontinues. Over the years I often paused at Gun Shops and Gun Shows to look for and at Garands but became increasingly concerned that whenever I bought one it would be an imported parts gun or a weld job. Finally, this fall, after reading through a stack of this year's America's First Freedom Magazines, I immediately got excited when I saw your ad in the April issue. I promptly called for a catalog, prepared all the necessary paperwork, and mailed in the order. I was tremendously surprised when the rifle arrived only three weeks later, coincidentally two days before my birthday. For once I wasn't a "day late and a dollar short". I'm very pleased with the rifle and its condition and can't wait to fire it. Thank you for your program and its ability to keep these well designed heroes of W.W.II and Korea from becoming scrap. My rifle is destined to remain with me for the rest of my life. Thanks again!

The rifle came as advertised at the CMP home page on the INTERNET. I knew it was luck of the draw and was very happy that the rifle received was manufactured by the Springfield Armory. I don't know with certainty yet but I believe the rifle is from W.W.II production (again, the luck of the draw). My reason for purchasing an M1 is that I wanted to own a piece of history. I couldn't be happier than I am now! !(Editor’s note: CMP government rifle sales information can be found at http://www.odcmp.com/Services/Rifles/index.htm.)

Your customer service is fantastic! I received my rifles less than 3 weeks after mailing in my order and the condition of the rifles was much better than in the description. I'll be ordering more rifles in the near future. I would, however, like the CMP to offer M1 Carbines to their customers. I'm a Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor for rifle shoots and would like to have the scouts shoot the M1 Carbine as well as the .22 Rifle. In addition, could you supply me with literature, posters, brochures, etc. about the CMP which I could use in a presentation at the Boy Scout Troop Meetings. Thanks for everything!

Dealing with the CMP has been a pleasure. You folks have gone above and beyond to accommodate requests and your customer service (used once only) has been first class! By the way… this is my 10th rifle purchase, not counting ammunition! You folks make me smile!
