Just finished it. Ruger 10-22 into m1 carbine clone. Thought you m1 carbine fans might like it. Special thanks to the forum members for parts!
Disclaimer - No rare m1 parts were used in the building of this rifle.

I like it . How about some info on it. How does it shoot with those non original sights? How much work was involved in converting it over? Any problems at all? Inquiring minds would like to know .
Thanks for sharing with us.

Thanks for the comments!
The sights on it are tech sights. They are made for the 10-22. Elevation adjustable in the front, and windage in the rear. They are a huge improvement over the originals. I had the sights on my other 10-22, but they fit this one better, so my other 10-22 got a scope. I haven't shot it yet. My only concern is the band putting pressure on the barrel. The ruger and m1 carbine barreled receiver are very similar in size. Most of the reciver would fit into the unmoded stock, but still had to be opended up. Mostly the trigger and mag opening at the bottom. Other than that, no inlets on the m1 carbines stock were over sized. After about 3-4 hours with the dremel to perfect the fit, it slid in. I used the original stock for a reference, as far as the overall inner width and trigger opening dimensions go. I put a block of wood where the takedown screw goes and bedded the reciever and that area with jb weld. The barrel band had to have the lower part of the ring cut off, and some material ground with the dremel. The handguard is held in place by the band infront and a screw in the middle, that goes into a tapped dovetail blank where the old sight used to be. Some of the recoil plate had to be ground back too in front to prevent hitting the rear of the reciever. That's all In other word, you need some patience. |

That is seriously an awesome-looking conversion! I would love to see detailed pictures, if you wouldn't mind!
I've been thinking of making one myself, but using a spare GI front sight, and building up a dovetailed sight-boss on the receiver, so I can mount a repro flip sight. |

| I was actually thinking about making a vid for youtube. I'll try to make one soon explaining the process and the rifle breakdown. |

That is a very cool 10-22 conversion. +3 to your efforts. Forgive my ignorance, did you use a plan, kit, or your own insight to create this weapon. I would love to have something like this for the family. Thanks for the details, Scott

| People have done it before, so I pretty much used pics as a ref when possible, but most of it is just seeing what has to be removed/done. No real set of plans or instructions. What works for one person may not work for another. |
