Camp Perry Eagles Update

By Gary Anderson, DCM

After the eagle is captured its talons are taped and it is lowered to the ground in a special bag. It is then examined, measured and banded.

Mark Shieldcastle, the Ohio Division of Wildlife’s eagle biologist, displays the newest addition to Camp Perry’s family of eagles prior to being returned to its nest.

The Camp Perry eagle banding was witnessed by a large group
of spectators. Two local school classes were present. It was a
special experience for the children when they were allowed to approach
and touch the young eagle.
