Amanda Elsenboss and Julie Coggshall combined to give Connecticut Palmer the victory in the 2006 Whistler Boy Team Match with a score of 966-19X. They became the first all-female team to win the Whistler Boy Highpower Trophy.

It is known as the Whistler Boy Team Match, but this year the trophy went to the girls of the Connecticut Palmer Team. This is the first time in the history of Whistler Boy Junior Highpower Rifle Trophy competition that both firing members of the winning team were females. Julie Coggshall and Amanda Elsenboss combined to fire an impressive 966-19X under the guidance of team coach Bradford Palmer and team captain Peter Mathewson. They finished with a nine point lead over the Wisconsin Rifle and Pistol Association’s Golden Boys who shot a 957-23X for second, and 12 points over third place California Gold who shot a 954-21X.

This was just one of several victories for Coggshall who posted the overall high score in the Whistler Boy Match with 486-9X. She was the High Junior in the National Trophy Individual Match 486-12X. Those scores combined with her 286-5X score that earned a spot in the President’s 100 placed Coggshall first in the Col. Bill Deneke Trophy aggregate which combines scores from the Presidents, National Team Trophy and Whistler Boy Team Match to name the six-person National Junior Team. Coggshall’s team, Connecticut Palmer, was also the High Junior team in the National Team Trophy Match as well. Coggshall’s score of 487-12X was the high junior individual score in that match. Overall, it was a year of dominance for Julie Coggshall and her teammates on the Connecticut junior team.

There were 103 teams entered in the 2006 Whistler Boy Team Match. The top 20 teams received CMP Medallion awards.
