New Painting Unveiled at National Matches -- Print Available from CMP

By Gary Anderson, DCM

The 2007 Jerry Antolik National Matches painting is now on permanent display in CMP North Headquarters at Camp Perry, Ohio

A new “Camp Perry Centennial National Matches” oil painting by renowned Wyoming artist Jerry Antolik was commissioned by the CMP as one of the special events that celebrated the 1907-2007 Camp Perry Centennial. The painting was finished earlier this year and has been on display at the National Matches In-Processing Center throughout the 2007 National Matches. A full-sized print of the painting is now available for purchase from the CMP by anyone interested in target shooting art and National Matches memorabilia.

During the last four years, the CMP has commissioned Antolik to produce a series of oil paintings portraying unique visual elements of the National Matches. The CMP has now collected eight original pieces of Antolik art that depict scenes from National Matches history and everyday Camp Perry scenes that are etched into the memories of Camp Perry competitors. Each of the original works of art is on permanent display at CMP North Headquarters at Camp Perry.

This poster featuring the 2007 Jerry Antolik National Matches painting may be purchased from the CMP for $14.95.

This year, for the 2007 Camp Perry Centennial, Antolik produced a new painting that shows a stretch of 200-yard firing line during a National Trophy individual standing stage. The firing line panorama shows 10 competitors firing service rifles and their scorers together with line officials and other shooters in the ready area.

Antolik was born in Pennsylvania and received his degree in illustration from the Cooper School of Art in Cleveland, Ohio. His paintings usually depict wildlife and landscapes of the American West, particularly Wyoming and the Rocky Mountain area where he now lives. His paintings and murals can be found in private collections and museums throughout the United States. Antolik’s accolades include Arts in the Parks Top 200 Finalist, 1997; Outstanding Artist of the Year, 1998; Pierrot Award, 1999; Western Spirit Show and Landscape Award; Wind River Valley First Place in Oil and Wyoming Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year.

The CMP’s collection of National Matches art works was on display at the National Matches In-Processing Center throughout the 2007 National Matches.

The newest Antolik painting will remain on permanent display in CMP Headquarters at Camp Perry, Ohio, but the CMP has produced a large 38” x 18” print from the painting that is available for purchase. The print may be purchased at both the CMP North and South stores, or through the CMP E-Store at http://estore.odcmp.com/Store/catalog/catalog.aspx for $14.95 each (NLU #706NM07). Three other posters featuring Antolik art may also be purchased at the CMP Stores or through the E-Store.
