Members of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit will provide instruction during the clinic.

The Mass Rifle Rebels (Woburn, MA), with the aid and support of Woburn Sportsman Association (Bedford, MA), will be hosting their second annual Eastern Championships in both air and smallbore rifle.

The weekend will start on Friday, November 8, with presentations by members of the Army Marksmanship Unit from 6 to 9 p.m. The presentation will be especially helpful for beginning junior shooters as well as for advanced, parents, coaches and fellow marksmen. The event is open for all to attend.

Saturday, November 9, is an ongoing day of events, such as the hands-on air rifle and small-bore clinic by the AMU.  Each relay is limited to 10 shooters, to ensure some personal time with the AMU members. The event is not just for advanced shooters – beginner marksman who have completed the NRA 3P program and may be just starting out in competitions would greatly benefit from this event.  If juniors do not have an air rifle but have been in a junior program and would like to participate in the air clinic, we will have loaner rifles available for use.

Shooters who wish to participate must register for the event.  Applications can be downloaded from www.massmatches.com

While the clinic is being conducted, Terri DeWitt from MidWay USA will be talking at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to parents, coaches and scholastic teams (pistol, rifle, air rifle, shotgun, etc).  She will be discussing how Midway can best benefit junior shooters and teams.  Please email Maureen Trickett at mrmttrcktt@aol.com to reserve a seat.  Junior clubs and teams do not want to miss out on this presentation.

Also on hand will be Steve Brown, who will be making custom air plugs.  Steve will be available both Saturday and Sunday in the air range.  Topping off Saturday will be a table of generous prizes that several vendors have graciously donated. The prizes will be raffled off after the match on Sunday.

The weekend fun continues into Sunday, November 10, as the Small-bore and Air Rifle Championships are fired throughout the day.  While the competition is taking place, Mr. Troy Bassham, Mental Management’s senior master instructor and director of junior development, will be conducting seminars on topics such as “performance under pressure, goal getting and mastering self-image.” He will also have a question-and-answer period at the end of each session.  The seminar is great for several disciplines, not just air or small-bore.  The event is beneficial for all shooting sports, even archery, and is especially useful for those who are already competitive or want to be a competitive athlete.

Those interested must register for the event with Maureen Trickett mrmttrcktt@aol.com
