            Course of Basic Instruction
Rifle Safety and Marksmanship on the computer

During the October leadership conference, each participant received
a CD copy of the CMP's course of basic instruction on "Rifle Safety
and Marksmanship." The CD includes three files: a Power Point/PPT
file with slides for a "Rifle Safety and Marksmanship PE Class," a
Power Point/PPT file with slides for a "Rifle Basic Marksmanship Course,"
and a series of lesson plans for the PE class on marksmanship.

The "Rifle Safety and Marksmanship PE Class" and accompanying curriculum
is designed to be used together in teaching a 12 to 15 week course
            on rifle safety and marksmanship.

The CMP is presently refining and testing this material so that it
can be released as lesson plans and training aids for use in presenting
marksmanship instruction. Each month, The First Shot will highlight
a different segment of the curriculum.
