A Visit to Gary's House
On Sunday night of the National Youth Shooting Sports Leadership Conference, participants were treated to a visit to Gary and Ruth Ann Anderson's house. The First Shot was there to take a few pictures:

Just an ordinary house in an ordinary neighborhood. But you never know what you might find inside.

After the 1964 Olympics, the hometown folks in Hastings, Nebraska held a parade.

Gold medals from the 1964 and 1968 Olympics. Gary won the medals in the 300m free rifle event.

Gary served as a State Senator in the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature in the 1970s.

When the Berlin Wall "fell" in 1989, shooting friends in Germany used pieces of the broken wall to construct a memorial gift to recognize Gary's activies in bringing people on both sides of the iron curtain together through international shooting.

On August 19, 1971, in the Navy Cup Match at the National Matches, Gary Anderson shot the first 200 yard standing 200x200 "possible" score in highpower rifle. His record of 200-15X still stands today.

Gary has one of the world's premier collections of books on marksmanship, some dating as far back as the early 1800s.
