On 18 November, when the Chief of Staff of the U. S. Army, General Peter Schoomaker, visited Fort Benning, Georgia, he made a stop at the U. S. Army Marksmanship Unit where he presented the letter of congratulations from the President of the United States to the 2005 President’s Rifle Match winner.

One of the most prestigious awards in American marksmanship is the traditional letter of congratulations from the President of the United States that is presented to the winner of the President’s Match, which takes place during the annual National Matches at Camp Perry, Ohio. SFC Norman Anderson, who is a member of the Army Marksmanship Unit, won the 2005 President’s Match with a 297-17X score.

After the 2005 matches, the White House letter signed by President Bush was forwarded to Fort Benning and arrangements for the presentation by the Chief of Staff were made. The CMP extends its renewed congratulations to SFC Anderson and to the Army Marksmanship Unit for achieving such significant recognition.
