The North Carolina National Guard's Range 4 will host the Eastern CMP Games and Creedmoor Cup Matches.

In 2007 the Inaugural Eastern CMP Games and Creedmoor Cup Matches drew over 300 competitors to Camp Butner, North Carolina for the nine-day shooting event. The Eastern Games was modeled after the popular Western CMP Games and Creedmoor Cup Matches that have been held each Fall in the Western United States since 2004. This event is co-sponsored by the Civilian Marksmanship Program and Creedmoor Sports. North State Shooting Club (NSSC) hosts the event at their home range at Camp Butner, North Carolina, which is located north of Durham. The 2008 Eastern CMP Games will take place on 3-6 May, followed by the Creedmoor Cup Matches on 7-11 May.

There will be two clinics during the Eastern CMP Games & Creedmoor Cup Matches. A CMP G-S-M Clinic will be held Saturday morning and a Highpower Clinic will be held on Wednesday, 7 May.

The Eastern CMP Games feature M1 Garand, Springfield and Vintage Military Rifle matches and an As-Issued M1 Garand EIC match. The Creedmoor Cup Highpower matches feature a practice match, EIC match (shooters with match rifles can fire the course, but their scores do not count for EIC points), Creedmoor Cup 800 Aggregate match and a four-person team match.

For new shooters, a Garand, Springfield and Vintage Military Rifle Clinic will be led by Richard Whiting, CMP GSM Master Instructor and lead instructor in the CMP National Matches clinics. The cost of the GSM Clinic is $10 and includes a GSM Student Guide. CMP-certified GSM Master Instructors will assist with the clinic and provide hands-on coaching and instruction during dry firing sessions. The clinic is scheduled on Saturday morning (3 May) so that as many shooters as possible, especially new shooters, can attend and complete the clinic before the begin firing the matches that afternoon. For highpower shooters, the U. S. Army Service Rifle Team and Creedmoor firing member CWO3 Dennis W. DeMille, USMC (Ret.) will conduct a free highpower shooting clinic on 7 May. The clinic features lecture, demonstration and dry-fire activities with lots of hands-on coaching during the dry-fire sessions.

Anyone attending the Eastern Games will have an opportunity to inspect and hand select government-surplus rifles from CMP, all rifles selected are tagged and shipped to the customer once the sale is complete.

In addition to the matches and clinics, CMP Rifle Sales will take place at the range at the conclusion of each day on 3-7 May. The CMP South staff from Anniston, Alabama will be at the event with a supply of government surplus M1 Carbines, M1 Garands and Kimber smallbore rifles. This will be a great opportunity for anyone attending the competition to inspect and hand select a rifle from CMP, all rifles selected are tagged and shipped to the customer once the sell is complete. Case lots of .30-06 M2 ball ammunition will also be available for purchase at the range. Additional fun events on the schedule are a CMP BBQ on the 4th, CMP Achievement medals awarded after each day’s As-Military Rifle Matches, and a Creedmoor Cup BBQ and Awards Banquet with $15,000 worth of door prizes provided by Creedmoor Sports and other match sponsors on the 10th.
